Joe Kennedy grew up in Southern California during the 1980’s. Coming from a family of craftsmen, who sculpted with wood, glass and clay, he gained an appreciation for form and perspective from an early age. This was something he put to use when he made his own toys. Joe’s earliest influences in drawing come from European comic creators like Hergé (Tintin) and Albert Uderzo (Astérix). These, along with influences like Jim Lee and Kevin Eastman, pushed Joe towards entertainment design.
In the Spring of 2004, Joe began his study at Otis College of Art and Design. His desire to tell stories visually led him to participate in a new discipline focusing on design for the entertainment industry. Joe also interned for several design firms and worked on television shows. In Spring 2007, he graduated with a BFA and Honors in Service. He continues his education by attending weekly Plien Aire painting and life drawing groups.
Storytelling drives Joe’s personal and professional work. Collaborative art departments fosters his passion, and has allowed him grow as an artist. Joe Kennedy’s clients include Toyota, Ubisoft, Activison, Nestlé, Blackberry, Netflix, Burger King, E Channel, Bayer, Nickelodeon, The Family Channel, Barclay, and Liberty Mutual. He also has published work in games, television, and film. His most current project, “Hell & Back,” is ShadowMachine Film’s first stop motion animated feature.
